I got mani-pedi today. I chose black for my toenails because all the other colors were too, uhh, bright? I was gonna choose the same for my fingernails when the cheery, bouncy manager walked by and asked, “Have you picked a color yet?”
“Hmm…you know what, I’ll let you decide. What do you recommend?”
“Oh wow, that’s so sweet,” she said. “Do you prefer light or dark?”
“I’m not sure…”
“Do you like natural, or do you want the color to pop?”
“Let’s go with natural…”
“Are you a pink girl?”
“Uhhh…I don’t know…I guess I can be?”
“Alright, gimme a minute.”
She came back with three options, all of which looked the same shade of pink to me. She also said I should get a glittery one on my ring finger for a bit of flare, and I was like, sure, ya, I trust you.
And now here we are. Welcome, friends, to my pink girl era. Haha.

I texted the same photo to my friends and told them I got mani-pedi for the first time ever. “This is peak midlife crisis for me,” I said on chat. Seriously, man, can someone tell me what is going on with me?

My brother is supposed to stay in my apartment for the night, but he’s currently stuck somewhere south of the city. His truck wouldn’t start.
“If roadside assistance does not come I’ll just sleep here,” he texted me.
“Where? In the truck?”
“Ya.”
“Want me to come get you? I don’t have a booster but I can grab one if you need.”
“Nah, it’s good. I’ll update you later. My phone’s about to die.”
Bruh. Seriously. Now I’m just waiting for his text. I hope he’s okay. I’m sleepy.

Back to nail talk. I got a mani partly because of the wedding I’m supposed to attend this Saturday, and also because there’s a 20% off sale in the nail salon that I walk by on my way home from work. I don’t think I’ll be doing my nails regularly though. I don’t think I can rock being a pink girl whole-year round (and I am too indifferent to pick another color).

My climbing gym is closed for the next few days, so I’m climbing at a different gym tomorrow. I wonder how my polished nails would fare in the climbing wall. We shall see.
