In August, I went to Drumheller for the first time and saw the hoodoos at sundown. The badlands reminded me of a Star Trek set. Being there was like landing in a desolate alien planet. The terrain was dry and craggy, and there were rock formations jutting out of the ground like bones of the ancient world.

In August, the heat was not as abrasive as it was in July. It was actually raining the day we visited Drumheller. The beauty of August is in its unpredictability — sometimes it rains, sometimes it shines, and the temperature rarely reaches the extremes. There was no unexpected snow this August, so gardens continued to thrive, flowers burst with colours, and plants stretched towards the sun to soak up the warmth.
In August, I visited L’s parents’ garden at work and took home a variety of vegies. I got tomatoes, kale, chili peppers, garlic, beets, and lots more. One day, if I ever get my own backyard, I hope to grow my own vegies too.

In August, I almost lost my bike, which I wrote about in a separate post.
In August, we biked around the Reservoir and took a break by the river. I also got bouts of migraine so I finally booked an eye exam that I had put off the last two years. The eye exam came out clear. “Very good,” said the doc, who also suggested seeing a GP and staying hydrated to address the headache.
In August, L got me a new pair of headphones. I took pictures of it, and three different shots came out in three different hues of green.
In August, life was good.
