20-minute timer starts now

I thought I’d have time to write my August log today, but I thought wrong.

The day is almost over and here I am cramming to get a blog post out. Not that anything disastrous would happen if I skip posting tonight; I just feel like keeping my word tonight lol.

Last week I was obsessed with this track by the booyah! kids:

Their passionfruit EP showed up on my Spotify’s Home screen, and I clicked on it because the cover art screamed IF YOU LIKE INDIE POP CLICK ME. I ended up listening to rwm on repeat for the next 2 hours after that, which was dope.

Who knew Spotify could still introduce me to new songs/artists?

I use Spotify’s radio feature a lot, but it’s been a long-ass time since it introduced me to a song or an album worth saving or going back to.

Another recent Spotify Home screen discovery is Suki Waterhouse’s Loveland. My current favorite track is Notting Hill. Two weeks ago it was Any Man. The entire record is worth listening to from beginning to end, IMO.

While we’re at it, I might as well mention ELIO and Charli XCX’s song CHARGER. This was released in 2021 so it’s pretty much ancient, but I only started listening to it yesterday. Spotify seemed to have picked up on my recent predilection to indie pop, huh?

(Timer’s over, dang.)

Okay, before I say ciao, here are a few more songs that I’ve been loving lately, which, if you’re anything like me who delights in discovering new music – preferably through another real human being (and a ree-al herooo) rather than an algorithm – you might enjoy too:

And that is all for today, my friends. Have a good rest of your week. ๐Ÿ™‚
