Sunday I helped L with yardwork.
Around this time, when mornings get darker and the breeze gets chillier, yard work usually means getting rid of dry, crunchy leaves cluttering our lawn.

I don’t normally help with outdoor chores, but because L and I have a hectic October coming up, I figured it’s best if we tackle the time-consuming tasks together.
L asked me to pick between raking and vacuuming. I chose vacuuming.

Vacuuming leaves was completely new territory for me. The suction tube was enormous. Holding it felt like I was firing a mini cannon, which, considering cannons, was anything but mini. The tube was connected to a large bag that I had to wear like a backpack. L also made me wear hearing protection and a mask for safety. Very legit.
I used the vacuum to suck the brown leaves into the bag, while L used a leaf blower to collect the leaves into a neat pile. Some leaves were smaller and wetter because of the morning frost, so L had to use a rake to gather them.

L was also in change of emptying the bag whenever it got full. The city provides compost bins to every household so yard waste and other biodegradable trash do not clog the landfill. Eventually, we ran out of space in our compost bin, but L knew of another bin where we could dump the leaves. We were able to chuck everything away properly.
Once we were done with the leaves, I went for a run while L switched gears and took care of the cars. Tire change, oil change, car wash, etc.

I am writing this on a Wednesday, a day later than my usual schedule. The clothes have been washed and folded. The dishwasher is running. The sheets are fresh. The floors, pristine.
Have a good rest of the week, everyone!
